9:15 AM – 10:30 AM – Writing at the Margins of Fiction and History: The Case of the Haitian Revolution with Marlene Daut


In this workshop, using the Haitian Revolution as a case study, we will explore what to do when
the fictional and nonfictional worlds in our writing collide, clash, and contradict in both expected
and unexpected ways.


*All events will be held in the Hotel Zero Degrees conference rooms.
*For guests staying at the hotel, a continental breakfast is included.
*Lunch is included for all guests and will be served Saturday the 3rd – Wednesday the 7th from
12:15 – 1:15 pm at Terra, the restaurant in Hotel Zero.
*Coffee/Tea is included and available all day.
*Dinner is not included, but there are plenty of great restaurants nearby. Feel free to ask for
suggestions!
*Books by faculty and visiting writers are available for purchase through Byrd’s Books.
